I've had the honor of being invited to Shander's unstoppable juggernaut of a blog! Allow me to introduce myself.

My name is Heather, and I'm speeding towards librarianship, flying by the seat of my pants. I did an undergrad thing at SUNY Stony Brook, where I must have gotten confused: I went in studying English, and came out speaking Japanese.

I'd like to say that my favorite pastimes are creating killer indexes and reminiscing over wine about my favorite Library of Congress call numbers. Actually, my hobbies run more like: Saving bugs from sidewalks. Playing Name That Plant. Drawing pictures. Pie.

I studied for two years in Kyoto, Japan, where I owned the karaoke scene, climbed Mt. Fuji, and made friends from all over the world. In the end, though, I left, because I just thought the garbage cans had a bad attitude.

In other news, it's October! Happy October, everybody!

Bug-saving and snarky garbage cans, eh? You're going to fit right in here....

P.S. I think the LIS program needs a superhero librarian mascot, don't you? Wouldn't you just love to draw her?! Then we can run a naming contest...first prize can be a karaoke night with gonnabe librarians!
