It's Never Too Late (or: When Old People Are Still Super Cool)

This weekend the whole ischool took IST 601, a one-credit gateway-type course where we got to meet everyone, play games, work together on a project, learn about innovation, find exactly what the grading standards are like, get all inspired by some fabulous presentations (Information is Power! You will change the world!) and here's my take-away: I'M TOO FUCKING OLD! There were a few poor souls older than me, but not many. We can hope we serve as inspiration to the younguns, but hell--I doubt it. They're probably all like, "Wow, I hope I'm not crawling into grad school when I'm an old fart." And then they laugh because they know THEY'LL never be old farts, THEY'RE going to be all young and cool FOREVER. They're not going to let themselves go and get all wrinkly and soft and grey. Nooooooooo, not them.

And then I wake up to this AWESOME article with the headline, "Tiny Librarian Hell on Wheels." And not only is she tiny, but she just became a roller derby girl. And she's 53!

Read it and pass it on....For the sake of old farts everywhere looking for a little inspiration themselves.

Older and wiser beats young and naive. But at any age,(like roller derby girl)you gotta go for it!

Keep this blog! It makes me giggle, chuckle, chortle and snort - all good things. When it's time to be hired you can go all serious, but for now you lighten the load.

So at least now we know that you are an older Jewish, Democrat, Flamenco Dancer, with bad hair, and an interest in African art, who is not put off by four letter words. A perfect profile for a librarian.
